OrbitX: How Metaborong Engineered a Production-Grade Stablecoin Banking Infrastructure for Global Payments
By Metaborong, development partner·Published June 2026
OrbitX is a stablecoin banking infrastructure platform that lets businesses spend, send, receive, and manage USDC-linked funds globally through smart contracts, treasury systems, and on-chain settlement.
Re-architected from an early MVP into production-grade banking infrastructure by Metaborong as development partner, on Coinbase's Base network. OrbitX runs live in production.
What Metaborong Built
Metaborong engineered a modular blockchain banking protocol: not a set of isolated contracts, but a complete financial infrastructure architecture designed for governance control, operational safety, and long-term scale. It runs on Coinbase's Base network, an Ethereum Layer 2 with lower fees and faster settlement than mainnet while keeping full EVM compatibility. Metaborong's scope spanned smart contract architecture, treasury and DeFi integration, governance design, and the escrow lifecycle, engineered as OrbitX's development partner.
Upgradeable Smart Contract Architecture
OrbitX's contracts deploy through an upgradeable proxy pattern (UUPS standard), so contract logic can be updated after deployment without disrupting platform state or user funds. OrbitX can evolve its financial products and address vulnerabilities without forcing users to migrate funds or accept service interruptions. This is the foundation for long-term infrastructure, not a one-shot deployment.
Timelock Governance and Role-Based Access
Contract upgrades, treasury operations, and permission modifications are all subject to timelock-enforced governance delays, so no single actor can execute a high-impact change without a mandatory waiting period. Granular role-based access control (RBAC) separates treasury, governance, upgrade, and user-management roles, with multi-signature requirements on high-value operations and revocable, time-limited permissions.
USDC Treasury and DeFi Yield
OrbitX needed a stablecoin treasury that generates yield on idle funds, not just a payment rail. Metaborong integrated Aave for USDC lending yield on treasury reserves and Morpho for optimized DeFi yield routing, running natively on Base for low-fee, fast settlement. Treasury reserves stay productive without compromising the custody and access controls that a banking platform requires.
Escrow for Purchase-Order Financing
A core OrbitX product is a blockchain escrow system for purchase-order financing. Metaborong engineered the escrow lifecycle to coordinate buyer, seller, and platform, release funds against milestone conditions, settle automatically on fulfillment, and keep every transaction auditable on-chain for compliance. It replaces traditional trade-finance escrow with faster settlement, lower fees, and full on-chain transparency.
Technical Approach
OrbitX runs as one cohesive banking protocol on Coinbase's Base network: an upgradeable contract core gated by timelock governance and role-based access, a USDC treasury earning DeFi yield, and an on-chain escrow that settles against milestones, all sharing one secure architecture.

Results & Impact
Metaborong delivered a production-ready stablecoin banking infrastructure for OrbitX in 2025.
- Live in production. OrbitX runs today at orbitxpay.com, built on Coinbase's Base network.
- Re-architected ground-up by Metaborong as development partner. The smart contract banking architecture, treasury system, governance, and escrow lifecycle were rebuilt from an MVP into production-grade infrastructure on Base.
- The platform moved from isolated contracts to a cohesive financial architecture ready for live operations.
- Governance-controlled upgrades run under full timelock enforcement, so no single actor can rush a high-impact change.
- USDC treasury operations earn DeFi yield on idle reserves through Aave and Morpho without compromising custody controls.
- Automated escrow lifecycle management reduces the manual coordination overhead of traditional trade-finance settlement.
- The architecture is extensible for future stablecoin and embedded-finance products without a system rebuild.
Frequently asked questions
Stablecoin banking infrastructure is the smart contract systems, wallet architecture, treasury tools, and governance frameworks that let dollar-pegged stablecoins like USDC be used for real-world financial operations: payments, escrow, yield generation, and cross-border transfers.
Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain developed by Coinbase. It offers significantly lower transaction fees and faster settlement than Ethereum mainnet while keeping full EVM compatibility, which suits high-frequency stablecoin payment operations.
An upgradeable proxy (commonly UUPS or transparent proxy) separates a contract's logic from its stored data, so the logic can be updated after deployment without affecting user funds or requiring fund migration.
Timelock governance is a security mechanism where proposed changes to a smart contract system are subject to a mandatory time delay before execution, giving stakeholders time to review and respond to malicious or erroneous proposals before they take effect.
Yes. The stablecoin payment infrastructure Metaborong engineered applies directly to Indian fintech companies exploring blockchain-based international payments, particularly as USDC adoption grows across South Asian markets and cross-border remittance use cases expand.
Metaborong built OrbitX's production banking infrastructure as development partner: the upgradeable smart contracts, timelock governance, role-based access control, USDC treasury with DeFi yield, and the on-chain escrow system, on Coinbase's Base network.
